Due to Splunk DB Connect 1 support running out, I need to upgrade from DB Connect 1 to DB Connect 2. The upgrade instructions seem to indicate that I should install DB Connect version 2 while version 1 is still being used. If I understand it correctly, using this method, I can verify connectivity and migrate search by search at my own pace.
The issue is that several people, including one who works at Splunk, have told me something along the lines of, "you shouldn't run DB Connect 1 and 2 at the same time".
My question is, which is it? The instructions say to run both versions at the same time and the people say to not run both versions at the same time.
From the instructions "Installing the current version of Splunk DB Connect does not remove DB Connect 1. In fact, you can run the two versions in parallel as you acclimate to the new version. However, this is not recommended as a long-term strategy. "
Have any of you had actual experience with this?
